CMIT offers marketing training and campaigns to our base of 125 franchise offices.  As we find ways to generate leads from small businesses needing our outsourced IT services, we learn that many small businesses fail to consistently market.  You will hear from any marketer that good marketing is about layering.  After reading the Five Secrets to Finding All The Clients You’ll Ever Need by C.J. Hayden, I have added “persistence” to my marketing vocabulary.  It isn’t just layering, it is persistently layering the same things!  C.J. calls this the Persistence Effect.  You need to limit your marketing activities to those you can realistically follow up on and do it consistently.  I recommend you follow a strict direct mail and email marketing schedule, add in consistent telemarketing and then attend only a handful of networking events/speaking opportunities/trade shows knowing that you must follow up and stay in touch for them to be effective.
