style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Leprechauns guarding pots of gold at the end of the rainbow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Luck is fun.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s just not how well-run businesses actually operate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Because no business owner would ever say:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOur hiring strategy is whoever walks in the door.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOur sales plan is hope customers find us.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOur accounting approach is the numbers probably work out.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That would be ridiculous.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And yet\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Somewhere Along the Way, Tech Gets a Pass<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In a lot of small businesses, technology recovery quietly runs on a different standard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Not intentionally.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Not recklessly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Just happens.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That\u2019s not a plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That\u2019s a rabbit\u2019s foot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span 400\">\u201cHow long are we down?\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Prepared businesses already know the answers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lucky businesses find out in real time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And real time is expensive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Double Standard Most Businesses Don\u2019t Notice<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Think about where you don\u2019t tolerate uncertainty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hiring has a process.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Sales has a pipeline.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Finances have systems and controls.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Customer service has standards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Technology recovery?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A lot of businesses have hope.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Somewhere along the way, \u201cwhat
