A veteran who had a dream of owning my own business someday!<\/strong>\u00a0 As a child, growing up in a small town in Central Wisconsin, I didn\u2019t have a clue what my future career path would take.\u00a0 Like most kids, I was busy hunting and fishing and having fun.\u00a0 My career was in the distant future.\u00a0 Entering high school my thoughts turned to flying and the possibility of being a pilot.\u00a0 As a senior in high school I pursued my dream and contacted the military but there was a two-year waiting list so I joined the Army becoming a military policeman.\u00a0 It was an eye-opening experience, afforded travel to other countries but was not the path I wanted to follow as a lifetime career.\u00a0 After my discharge from the military, I went into telecommunications as an installer eventually working my way into management.\u00a0 This is when I gave serious thought to owning my own business.<\/p>\n

Knowing I needed more than a high school diploma to accomplish my goal, I decided to continue my education. At the age of thirty-five, I entered college at the University of Tennessee to get my Bachelors Degree and then a Masters Degree in Business while still working in telecommunications for several more years\u2019.\u00a0 During this time, I also passed all FAA tests \u2013 now I could fly. In the back of my mind I still had this nagging thought of flying as my dream career. I needed a commercial pilots license so I continued flying, passed all the mandatory tests and now have my commercial pilot’s license and became a CFII.\u00a0 Rethinking the commercial dream I decided to become a flight instructor on the weekends.\u00a0 The desire to give back to the community prompted me to join the Civil Air Patrol as well as teaching young and old the thrill of flying, this has been more than gratifying. Several of my young adult students enlisted in the military with established pilot licenses.<\/p>\n

While all of this kept me very busy I still had the\u00a0dream of owning my own business. During my thirty years in telecommunications, I took an interest in Information Technology seeing it as the direction I wanted to take for my future business.\u00a0 That\u2019s when Ravonda and I started searching for businesses that fit our goals. Our research led us to CMIT Solutions. Reading the history of this franchise, how it was started by a brave woman who fought to build her dream and succeeded by starting the franchise and learning how the owner today, Jeff Connally, supports veterans looking to build their dream, we were sold. Today Ravonda and I are owners of\u00a0CMIT Solutions of\u00a0Chapel Hill<\/a> working together to build our dream. Ravonda manages the marketing and we both handle the day-to-day operations of the business. The success of our clients is the main goal of CMIT Solutions of Chapel Hill. \u00a0We provide a proactive approach to technology with the main focus on cybersecurity<\/a> and protecting client\u2019s data<\/a> so they are up and running 24\/7\/365.<\/p>\n

With the recent hurricane<\/a> that hit North and South Carolina, we saw the power of CMIT’s national support with over 800 technicians across the franchise system we had their support, if needed. With one email across the franchise system the other owners, the technicians, and the main office in Austin, TX were ready to take action within minutes. We were very lucky our area was spared the full wrath of the storm. \u00a0When we started CMIT Solutions of Chapel Hill the national support was a big factor in our decision, but we saw first-hand the power of the national system during this hurricane.<\/p>\n
