Here’s where the line actually sits. Your provider secures the data centers, the servers, and the software itself. They keep the lights on and the application patched. That’s their half, and they’re good at it.<\/p>\n
Your half is everything that walks through the door. Your data, and whether there’s a real backup of it. A user account, and how strong their password is. The laptops and phones that connect. How your sharing and security settings are configured. And the people clicking links all day.<\/p>\n
Here’s the part that surprises people. When something goes wrong in the cloud, it’s not uncommon for the trouble to begin on the customer’s side of that line. A weak password. A former employee who still has access. A setting left wide open because nobody knew to check it.<\/p>\n
The good news is that your half is manageable once you know it’s yours. Turn on multi-factor authentication everywhere you can. Make sure your cloud data is actually backed up, not just sitting in the app. And when someone leaves, remove their access the same day.<\/p>\n
The cloud didn’t make security someone else’s job. It moved the line. Once you know which side you’re standing on, protecting your business gets a whole lot simpler.<\/p>\n

These providers keep their service running and protect their own systems, but recovering your files after an accidental deletion, a ransomware attack, or a departed employee’s cleanup is your responsibility.
