Fast-rising company earns national honor

Monday, May 13, 2013

Happy Mother’s Day.

Let’s start with a high-five to Cherry Hill’s CMIT Solutions, an IT services provider franchise recently recognized with a national honor. After only two years in business, CMIT Cherry Hill expanded its client base by 272 percent and surpassed a half-million dollars in revenue.
The achievements earned the company and its president, Bob Riesenbach, the coveted Break Out Award. Austin-based CMIT has 140 offices operating throughout the U.S.
Here’s another fun marketing move (see main story) by a local retailer: On May 28 — National Burger Day, in case you didn’t know — Glassboro’s Smashburger will give away a free Classic Smashburger to anyone with the last name of, you guessed it, Burger. Or any variations thereof, such as Berger, Weinberger, Rosenberger, etc.
The Smashburger at 698 Delsea Drive in Glassboro is the only location in South Jersey.
Cherry Hill-based Subaru announced Wednesday it will expand its Indiana plant to add production of the Impreza small car beginning in 2016.
Executives of Subaru of Indiana Automotive, the North American manufacturer of Subaru vehicles, said the expansion of its Lafayette plant will create approximately 900 new jobs and involves an investment of about $400 million.
The Indiana factory currently employs about 3,600 people and builds the Legacy and Outback cars and the Tribeca SUV.
On a sad note, we need to acknowledge the passing of two local businessmen.
Alfred Ciccotelli
Sr., founder of Cento Fine Foods, died May 6. In 1963, the Cinnaminson resident launched Alanric Food Distributors, which would evolve into Cento, a nationally known distributor of Italian products. Ciccotelli, 86, was a veteran of World War II.
Marlton’s Dennis Fortuna also passed away on May 6. Fortuna was the owner and operator of Fortuna Optical in Marlton for more than 40 years. He was 69.
