CMIT Solutions Partners with BBCO Design to Support Worthington Thrift Shop Benefitting Cancer Services of Lifecare Alliance
COLUMBUS – Since its inception in 1967, the Worthington Thrift Shop, which donates its profits to Cancer Services of LifecareAlliance, has primarily conducted business and recordkeeping using pen and paper. When CMIT Solutions Founder and Owner Daniel Maldet met with Thrift Shop volunteers to discuss possible system upgrades, he uncovered a low-cost way to bring the shop into the 21st Century with the help of fellow local business and CMIT client BBCO Design.
Since helping BBCO implement new systems, Maldet has been storing three of the company’s used computers. Maldet contacted BBCO leaders to ask if they would be willing to donate the used computers to the Worthington Thrift Shop. BBCO readily agreed to the donation.
The final piece of the puzzle was for the Worthington Thrift Shop’s board to approve a budget to purchase two printers. Having cleared that hurdle, Maldet and CMIT will donate the labor needed to install the computers and printers, and to train Thrift Shop volunteers on the new digital system.
“Using the computer system can help Thrift Shop volunteers with intake forms, inventory management, and creating labels for pricing. It can be a huge help with recordkeeping and it will ultimately streamline processes,” said Maldet. “It’s been a pleasure to be able to bring together two great local organizations: The Worthington Thrift Shop and BBCO. I’m gratified that CMIT can play a role in assisting people who are committed to uplifting our community.”
