Our tech assessment is the foundational document that helps us understand how we can best service your organization. Within the assessment, we gather information about your Network, Security, Users, and more! In this blog, we will help you better understand each section of the assessment and how to gather this information.
HARDWARE
The hardware of your business are the tools you use every day. These tools allow you to conduct your business, connect to the internet and store important data. Some hardware items include:
- Laptops
- Desktops
- Phones, mobile and landline
- Servers
- POS Systems
- Network Systems (Routers, Modems, etc.)
- Printers
Within the assessment, we will ask the status of these items and their current security information. A lot of this information can be found on the items themselves, on the bottom near serial number and model information. Alternatively, they can be found within the settings of the systems, i.e. System Settings within your Mobile Phone.
SOFTWARE
Software are the tools within your Hardware that allow you to operate your devices and conduct your business. These are the heart of productivity and collaboration that allow your organization to flourish. These software items include:
- Operating Systems (Windows, iOS)
- Microsoft Office
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Google Suite
Within the assessment, we ask what software you’re currently utilizing, their current software status, and if there are any issues that need to be addressed within these services.
NETWORK
Network systems are how your devices utilize the internet, it utilizes network infrastructure (Wi-Fi, Switches, Routers) to connect to the world wide web. We will identify your physical and wireless infrastructure, and the safety of both. This is where we will consider your firewall and antivirus system – this information will help us determine safety improvements that can be made. We will also consider any bottlenecks in the network, in other words, if your connection becomes slow or disconnects entirely.
SECURITY
Security will relate to the network with the firewalls you have in place, but this also includes password security, system back ups, and more. It’s imperative you keep your system safe, secure, and ready for any attack or failure. This section will help us determine any holes in your system and how we can help patch them for long lasting safety.
USERS
Users are anyone who has or had access to your system. This section will help determine how many users you have and if their system access is appropriate, and if their security training is up to par. The answers you provide can lead to a new training foundation better suited for your organization.
PERFORMANCE
Performance will determine how efficiently your hardware is operating and if there are any upgrades to be made!
MISCELLANEOUS
In this section, we will ask a few questions to better understand your organization, within IT and outside of IT. With our Part Resources, we have many opportunities to set your business on the path of goal setting.
