Hi, you may know that the best defense against a ransomware attack is backing up your data, but did you know that not all backups will protect you? Hi, I’m Steve Conyers with CMIT solutions where we provide cyber security and IT support for businesses and nonprofits. And what do I mean, I have three points I want to make about backups that, you should keep in mind. Number one is if your backup is on your network, then it is likely going to be encrypted along with all your other data and become useless. So, number one is you need your backup off of your network. Item number two is another off, it’s you should have that backup offsite. So in the cloud. So, off the network and offsite, and number three is keep in mind how quickly you need the data back. So it’s great to have a backup and have it offsite, but if you’re in a business where the time is money and you need that data right away, then you also need to pick a solution where you can restore your data very quickly within the timeframe that you would need it before you lose money.
So, keep those three things in mind. You can check out my website. I have a checklist on all cybersecurity topics, including the backup, or if you want to connect with me on LinkedIn, I’ll send it to you directly. My contact information is at the end of this video, and I hope you have a safe and secure day.
