The AI Assistant on Your Keychain Is Still an Endpoint

Meta wants your next gadget to be an AI assistant on your keychain. At Meta’s Connect conference, the company unveiled Muse Charm, a pocket-sized device that lets you talk to Muse AI and show your surroundings without needing camera glasses. Muse Charm ships in December, and Meta has already lined up retail tie-ins with Walmart, Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, and Wayfair to put the assistant in front of shoppers everywhere.

For small business owners, the key takeaway goes beyond a single gadget. This shift signals that AI assistants are moving off screens and onto physical devices people carry every day, whether on keychains, in pockets, or in whatever form comes next. While this offers new convenience for your team, it also introduces a new category of hardware connecting to your network and potentially your company’s information without IT approval.

Most small businesses lack a policy for wearable AI devices because the category is so new, but that reality is changing quickly. Rather than outright banning AI gadgets, the practical move is to understand what connects to your systems and set a clear approval process for new devices before they enter the workplace. Businesses that address this now will avoid a scramble later.

If you are unsure which devices are currently active on your network, closing that gap should be your first priority before the next wave of AI hardware arrives. A quick device inventory and a basic approval step for new tools cost far less than resolving a security or privacy issue after it happens.
